The Wamego Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across Kansas in a special Thanksgiving traffic safety campaign aimed at protecting holiday travelers.
Running from November 21 through December 1, 2024, the "Thanksgiving Safe Arrival" initiative will focus on enforcing occupant protection laws, though all traffic regulations will be monitored. The campaign includes participation from the Kansas Highway Patrol and other agencies statewide.
"Buckling up saves lives," emphasized Wamego Police officials. "It's your best defense in case of a crash."
The department will combine enforcement with public education efforts to stress the importance of seatbelt use for all vehicle occupants. Officials urge drivers and passengers to make buckling up a consistent habit, especially during the busy holiday travel season.
"Don't be a turkey," police advise. "Buckle up, every trip, every time – if not for you, do it for your loved ones."
